Urb.Works combines government planning data, map services, reference floor plans, and open-source software. This page summarises required credit; the full dependency list is in open-source notices.

Maps

Basemap tiles are served via MapLibre. Streets mode uses CARTO Voyager (OpenStreetMap + CARTO). Terrain and hybrid modes add Esri raster tiles with CARTO labels. Use the map attribution control (bottom-right) for the current providers.

Victorian data (Vicmap)

Locked parcel boundaries and related property layers are sourced from Vicmap services operated for the State of Victoria. When reusing this data, attribute it as required on DataVic:

ResPlan

Single-dwelling example floor plans may be adapted from the ResPlan dataset (Mohamed Abouagour & Eleftherios Garyfallidis), available on Kaggle, licensed under CC BY 4.0. Urb.Works does not redistribute the raw ResPlan pickle; converted layouts are used as non-certified reference examples only.

Swiss Dwellings

Building-floor examples may be adapted from Swiss Dwellings v3 (CC BY 4.0), derived from Modified Swiss Dwellings.

Single- and multi-unit building-floor examples may be adapted from Swiss Dwellings v3.0.0, licensed under CC BY 4.0. See also the dataset paper. Do not redistribute raw Swiss Dwellings archives from Urb.Works.

Planning content

Planning scheme and guide excerpts in Urb.Works are sourced from Victorian government materials (typically under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 via DataVic). Always verify against the official planning instrument and council records before relying on outputs for a permit or legal decision.

Google Maps

Urb.Works uses Google Maps Platform for address geocoding and, when configured, server-side Static Map snapshots stored on locked parcel records. These images are not shown in the web UI today; if displayed in future, Google attribution will be shown per Google’s requirements.
